The heat continues out there with some humidity as we have experienced a push on moisture below 700 mb. With high pressure sitting overhead, we have subsidence in place that will limit afternoon convection over the next couple of days. This will also push temperatures up near the 110° mark with lows warm, cooling to the 80s.
High pressure will shift northward over the Four Corners this weekend, allowing temperatures to return to normal, along with an increasing easterly flow. This will advect monsoon moisture back into the region by Sunday, with thunderstorms increasing through next week. Forecast models even hint at our first easterly wave moving into the area later in the week.
This could spark widespread showers and thunderstorms, elevating the flash flooding potential. Temperatures will remain fairly close to average through next week, although they may dip slightly below normal with the surge in monsoon moisture. |
